Lantern Hollow: our own game, shipping to five platforms from one codebase

Lantern Hollow is a cosy voxel survival game from Ikigai Game Studios, our games label. Keep the fire lit, craft what you need and hold out against the gloomlings for 62 nights. It is in alpha on Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS and Android, all built from one TypeScript codebase.

The problem

We wanted a product of our own that pushed the same skills we sell: cross-platform delivery, a real release pipeline, accounts, payments and updates that just arrive. A game does all of that at once, with players who notice every rough edge.

What we did

There is no commercial engine underneath. The game is TypeScript and three.js, with an isometric view and a third-person view, music generated as you play, and LAN multiplayer. Electron packages it for Windows, Mac and Linux, and Capacitor packages it for iOS and Android, so one codebase reaches all five.

A single release tag builds and signs eight packages in CI, and the desktop builds update themselves from a signed feed on the website. The website handles sign-in, payments, cloud saves and playtime. We build it AI-first: over 670 commits in its first two weeks, each one reviewed before it ships.

What changed

Lantern Hollow went into alpha in September 2026 and has shipped more than 30 alpha releases since. You can follow it, and play it, at lanternhollowgame.com.
